The Numbers passage is a warning to Christians not to complain about the hardships of life. The bronze serpent on a pole teaches us a right view of the cross as the time when Jesus was lifted up as a sacrifice for his people. We must look to him and be saved. Genuine faith shows itself in our lives as we live in the light of Christ’s teaching.
